The Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine was founded in 1978 to assist you with this challenge. Specific courses to develop knowledge and skills in this specialized area of podiatric medicine are now available to members.

WHAT THE ACADEMY WILL DO FOR YOU
- Draw practitioners with similar interests together for exchange of knowledge and skills.
- Help separate myths from facts by collating data and publishing scientific papers and data.
- Provide guidance on text books and sports journals.
- Provide educational programs and workshops.
- Publish an Academy Directory for referral by
- fellow collegues
- sporting institutions
- allied health professions
- Publish periodical newsletters informing you of current trends and sports shoe releases.
- Student - any student currently undertaking a Board recognised course and holding student membership of an Association member of the Australasian Podiatry Association.
- Member - a registered Podiatrist who is interested in and studying podiatric sports medicine, and is entitled to be examined by the Board of Trustees.
- Fellow - has successfully completed the Academy's
educational Fellowship requirements and submitted evidence of fulfilling
all other requirements as the Board of Trustees may from time to time
determine.
WHO CAN JOIN
The Academy offers membership to all Podiatrists and Students of Podiatry who are financial members of an Australian Podiatry Association or its recognised overseas equivalent.
- To co-ordinate the development of podiatric sports medicine within Australasia.
- Provide educational programs to equip Podiatrists to understand and treat the sportsperson and their injuries.
- To stimulate research relevant to the sporting community.
- Promote to the public the scope of podiatric sports medicine.
- Provide an academic qualification recognised by Boards of Registration as a qualification in Podiatric Sports Medicine.
